The Pinnacle of Eternity . . . by Joseph Littlefield
Calvary is the hinge of all eternity. The Cross is the single most significant event ever. The Universe was spoken into existence for it. All Scripture points to it. We find true meaning in it. Sin is dealt with by it. Death is killed because of it. Satan’s end is sealed with it. Life is purchased through it. Forgiveness comes to us by it. Hope ushers forth from it. All things work together for good because of it. An eternity of praise won’t exhaust it.
It is the greatest pinnacle in all existence. Calvary is the highest of heights. It is the deepest of depths. The Cross is the greatest of all things great. It is the most amazing of all things amazing. Nothing surpasses it. Nothing overshadows it. Nothing matches it. Nothing confounds it. Nothing detracts from it.
It is the ultimate statement of our Lord. It is the most distinguishing event ever. It shows that which our Lord possesses and none of the imposters do. It is the purest, weightiest, most dazzling masterpiece of grace. It is, in fact, the very definition of grace. All other things gracious are only so to the extent they are like the Cross, to the extent they are like Jesus; Jesus who embraced this Cross and endured the pinnacle of all things evil that by the pinnacle of all things gracious He might hinge eternity and show Himself as the single and sole savior of the world.
